Rich Internet Applications (RIA)

Rich Internet Applications (RIA) are web-applications which have similar functionality to desktop applications. Rich Internet Applications provide rapid response, clear representation of information and interactivity with minimum delays.

With RIA technology user interfaces are more efficient to use and offer better user experience. Additionally, RIA technology allows advanced features in web application which were formerly possible only in desktop applications.

User interface can, for example have all this without page reloading: auto-completion and user input validation, ordering and filtering of table data. Albeit simple features themselves, they bring a lot of usability and efficiency to web user interfaces.

Vaadin™

Vaadin™ is a RIA framework based on Google Web Toolkit developed by a Finnish company Oy IT Mill Ltd. Furthermore, Vaadin contains tools for automatic testing of RIA user interfaces. Vaadin is compatible with all common web browsers and it can easily be integrated with various Java containers (Tomcat, Jetty, J2EE application servers, Spring).

With Vaadin™ it is easy to implement RIA user interfaces without specific knowledge of JavaScript, HTML or CSS. User interfaces can be implemented faster, with fewer lines of code.
